IFLR Asia Awards

MdME Lawyers received the award "M&A Deal of the Year" in the "IFLR Asia Awards 2015" due to its involvement in the acquisition of Hong Kong’s Wing Hang Bank by the Singapore-based Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC). The team led by partner Rui Pinto Proença acted as Macau adviser to OCBC in the USD5 billion deal that allowed it to delist the Hong Kong bank and combine operations. The Wing Hang Bank purchase was the largest takeover of a Hong Kong bank since 2001.

The award is one of the most recognized in the Asian legal market, given annually by the international legal magazine International Financial Law Review (IFLR), acknowledging MdME Lawyers’ growing performance in the region.

The IFLR Asia Awards, as they are known, are based on the analysis of a law firm’s performance by an international judge panel, mainly composed by in-house counsel from worldwide financial institutions and companies.

The results were made known during the award ceremony on the evening of March 11, in Hong Kong.
